This is a board book written in the Dr. Seuss style and is part of Random House’s Bright and Early Board Books collection. Both I and my son like this book, though it’s not really all that spectacular. I didn’t get anything educational out of it, and I felt the illustrations were a little flat. My first impression of this book is that it is a Dr. Seuss ripoff.

All of that said my son did find it entertaining and the ryming words in it make it fun to read. Dum ditty Dum ditty Dum dum dum!

Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too?

Great book. This book goes through a series of animals asking the same question and gives a happy reassuring answer each time. The animals chosen are a good mix and help to demonstrate the artists abilities. I’m not a big fan of the artwork, but I think I’m in the minority there.

A bonus for older children at the end is a listing of all the animals in the book with the official names of the parents and children. I found it quite interesting myself too. Definitely one to add to your child’s collection.

Doggies

This is actually a pretty good book. One of my favorites really. It’s a 1-10 counting and color book and does a good job of throwing in some twists. It’s a hard back and seems to be decently bound. The artwork is good and I love the layout.

My only issue with this book is that the colors get mixed up between the dogs. Each dog / number gets a color when it is introduced which is great, but on the pages where it shows multiple dogs in boxes the colors are wrong. No biggie, but worth pointing out I thought.

My son seems to like this book too. He’s a little young to say for sure, but it does keep his attention. All in all a good book and I would definitely recommend it.
